Consultancy:

To develop an exclusive RT policy for hotels, resorts, home stays, houseboats, car rentals, tour operators, etc.

Process:
ICRT India will initiate a process which will help the organization to define their RT policy themselves. We will also cross check, verify and quantify the benefits and outcomes of various initiatives and guide the organization in evolving their own RT policy.

ICRT India is developing an important tool to help tourists find sustainable destinations – The India – Index of Responsible Tourism. It’s a database of responsible tourism businesses in India, and ICRT India -Index staff will verify that each business is in fact responsible before it is added to the database. This reassures travelers that they are choosing responsible vacations and are indirectly contributing to environmental conservation and the social well-being of local residents in the places they visit.

Advantages:

  • One of the tools which can combat the business false claims

  • A way for businesses to prove their claim for responsibility have been verified by an independent third party

  • A long term benefit – business becomes more efficient

  • By participating in this, business owners "put their house in order" by implementing practices such as responsible waste and water management, energy conservation, and many more activities that might be seen as an expense in the short-term, but are really an investment in improving the businesses' productivity and efficiency.

  • For expanding into new sustainable market niches businesses can use this as a complementary tool when marketing their business to "green" travelers and buyers”

  • a proactive way for businesses to respond to public scrutiny and criticism
